John continues his narrative: “So the Word became human, and made His home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. (Grace and Truth) And we have seen His glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.” John 1:14 NLT

The Word of God, the Creator of all, the Light of the World made His home among us. He left His glory, His divine majesty behind, and actually became a human being. He subjected Himself, voluntarily, to all the needs, the weaknesses, even the temptations of being human.

He made His home among us. Not above us, as an emperor, or a governor, but among us, sharing the human experience to the full. Very few even knew His identity, and even those only by divine revelation from His Father.

He  was full of Grace and Truth– unfailing love and faithfulness. When He spoke, everyone was astonished at His gracious  words. He healed all who came to Him, whatever their infirmity, and however exhausted and hungry He must have been. Teaching all day, and then being surrounded in the evening by crowds in need of healing; so pressed sometimes by the crowds, that there was no leisure to so much as eat; ministering so much that his relatives feared for His sanity– truly, His love was unfailing. In everything, He remained completely true to His Mission, and to His Father.

For the glory of His Father was what He showed forth to the world. He spoke what He heard His Father say. The deeds He did were His Father’s deeds. “If you have seen Me,” He told Philip and the other disciples, “You have seen My Father.”

Today, we, His followers, still have the Word dwelling among us. He lives His life within our hearts. We have the privilege, and the responsibility, to show forth His Glory, to be, like He was, full of grace and truth, unfailing love and faithfulness, in a world of darkness.
