As He heard His listeners murmuring in disapproval over His claim to have come from Heaven, Jesus told them to stop complaining about what He had said.
“No one can come to Me unless the Father Who sent Me draws them to Me, and at the last day, I will raise them up. As it is written in the Scripture, ‘They will be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from Him, comes to Me. (Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only I, Who was sent from God, have seen Him.) I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has Eternal Life.” John 6:44-46 NLTReading the passage brings a deep gratitude to our hearts; those of us who are drawn to Jesus Christ have been touched by God the Father Himself. The first move in the salvation of every soul has been made by God. It is God Who taught us our need for a Savior, and it was God Who provided His Son to be our Savior; to raise us up from the dead and give us life, as Jesus Himself told the Jews that day.
God the Father has taught us. God the Father has drawn us to Jesus, our Savior. And as we come to Jesus, as we believe in Him, He raises us up into Eternal Life. Surely no salvation could ever be more secure, resting as it does on the unlimited power, wisdom, and love of God Himself!
