Concluding his case, drawing on the writings of Scripture and his own observations of both Jews and Gentiles, Paul states that there is not one person who is right with God. Even the keeping the Law perfectly could not make a person right with God, for the Law simply shows how sinful we are. And so the entire world is guilty before God.
But God has now provided a way for us to be made right with Him!As Moses and the prophets had foretold long ago, God has now provided a way to be made right with God, apart from the Law. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. This applies to everyone who believes, whether the Jews who had the Law or the Gentiles who did not. All have sinned, and fallen short of the glory God has planned for us.
“Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His Blood.” Romans 3:24,25 NLT
Fallen man could not please God. The Law showed how sinful all men were, how far short of God’s glorious standard, and with no hope of ever attaining that standard. But, true to His Word by the prophets and by Moses, God sent His Son, the perfect sacrifice, Who pleased God in every particular; He paid the debt for the sin of the whole world. And all who believe in Him, who put their faith in Jesus Christ, are declared “Right with God.”
