Paul continues his letter to the church at Corinth with a summary of the Gospel which he had preached to them.
“Let me now remind you, dear brothers and sisters, of the Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then, and you still stand firm in it. It is the Good News that saves you if you continue to believe the message I told you– unless, of course, you believed something that was never true in the first place.” 1 Corinthians 15 :1,2 NLT.
The Good News of God, the finished work of Jesus Christ, is so perfect, so complete, that we can add nothing to it. When we welcome the Gospel, when we believe Him and continue to stand firm in our believing Him, we are saved.
Ultimately, it is the Truth of the Gospel which we believe that enables us to be saved by believing. And in Jesus Christ, we find Someone so reliable, so trustworthy, so “Full of Grace and Truth”, that we can believe Him in everything He says and does. As we read His Words, made alive to us by the Holy Spirit of Truth which He promised and sent, we can be sure of Salvation as we continue to believe Him.
