God’s Spirit gives us life, Paul tells us in his second letter to the church at Corinth, and in this new life, we have confidence and boldness and freedom.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, bringing with him the Law of God, he had to cover his face with a veil because the lingering glory of God shone so brightly in his face that the people could not look at him.
In the same way, Paul says, there is a spiritual veil covering the minds of men whenever the old covenant is read, keeping us from an understanding of the truth. Even today, thousands read the writings of Moses without seeing the glory of God.
But Christ has now come, and those who believe in Him have this veil taken away; this barrier between us and a relationship with God is removed. The Spirit of the Lord brings us freedom, and we can both see and reflect the Glory of God. “And the Lord– Who is the Spirit– makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His Glorious image.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 NLT.
As we believe in Jesus Christ, we are increasingly enabled to both see and reflect the Glory of God. And the more we see Him, the more we are made like Him by His Holy Spirit.
