In the first chapter of his letter to the believers in Ephesus, Paul lays out the amazing blessings that God has brought to us who believe in Jesus. He tells, too, of his prayers on behalf of the Ephesian church, including his prayer for understanding of the resurrection power of God, that lifted Jesus to the place of the highest authority of both Heaven and earth.

And this place of authority, Paul says, is for the benefit of the Body of Christ, the Church. “God has put all things under the authority of Christ, and has made Him Head over all things for the benefit of the church. And the church is His body; it is made full and complete by Christ, Who fills all things everywhere with Himself.” Ephesians 1:22,23 NLT.

Forgiven, saved, set free from sin, adopted into God’s Family, given His Holy Spirit– the blessings God has given us through Jesus Christ are truly unlimited. And, as we have been added to the glorious body of Christ, our Risen Head has authority over all things for our benefit. Just as the head in the human body looks out for the welfare of the whole body in every situation, so Christ arranges circumstances for the benefit of His Body in every situation.

Everything we need is found in Christ. In Him, we are “made full and complete.” He is always present with His limitless supply of comfort, encouragement, direction, strength, and joy. Christ “fills all things everywhere with Himself” Paul says, and those who have been adopted into His family find Him everywhere and in every situation. As  A.B. Simpson says, Christ is larger than the moment’s need, and He is given to us at once and forever.
